Hello SWE Members,
I hope you’re keeping up with your work and taking care of yourself! If you’re feeling a little lethargic this Monday morning, feel free to treat yourself to some coffee in the club room. We now have an up to date calendar there if you want to keep track of our events or just stop by and say hi. Here is what we should be keeping in mind for this week:
1) Application for Chair Positions:
Today is the last day!
We will be announcing our decisions on Thursday at the first member meeting!
If you are interested in holding a chair position, please fill out this Google Form and attend the member meeting on September 18th at 4:30pm in ENGR 242. If you cannot attend the meeting or have questions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
2) An Introduction to Lockheed Martin and Tech Talk
LM is hosting an event co-sponsored by ASME where you can learn about their company and “A day in the life of a problem solving engineer: from college textbooks to infinity and beyond.” LM hires engineers from all concentrations, so don’t miss out on this opportunity. If you are interested in attending, see the flyer (SJSU_Flyer_Fall_2014) and show up tomorrow in ENGR 285-287 Tuesday September 16th at 12 pm to 1 pm prepared with your resume. I hope to see you all there!
3) First Member Meeting:
We are hosting our first member meeting on September 18th from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm in ENGR 242. We are having our past SWE members who held an internship panel at this meeting. If you would like to be on the panel please email us back with your interest. Pizza will be served! Look forward to seeing everybody on Thursday afternoon!
4) MEP Retreat:
Thank you to all who attended the leadership retreat this past Saturday. I know it can be tough with our busy schedules. For anyone who wanted to attend but couldn’t, don’t fret because we plan on implementing some of the methods we learned into our meetings and events. If I name just one thing to take away from this experience I would like to share, it is:
“To be a leader, you must first know yourself!”
I hope everyone tries to make it next year as I found it to be a great way to network with both SJSU students and industry representatives.
