1) Wow! That’s Engineering!
Wow! That’s Engineering! is around the corner! Join other SWE members and volunteers on PI Day (3/14) to help influence young women into the engineering world. 2) SOLES Hiking at Mission Peak
When: Sunday, March 8 at 7:00 pm.
This will be one of SOLES socials, and it would be amazing if we can have more people join us in our hike. Plus it will be a great workout! Here is a link for those who are interested.
3) SWE WITT w/ Lea Poquerusse TOMORROW 🙂
Lea Poquerusse is a first year MBA student at the Stanford Business School and engineer by training. She has a BEng from McGill (2010) and an MS from MIT (2012), both in chemical engineering. Prior to attending Stanford, she worked in energy consulting for a company called Navigant in Boston and then Dubai. Lea Poquerusse will be giving a talk “Unlocking Your Potential & Being Comfortable with the Unknown Road Ahead” on Tuesday March 3rd, 2015 at 5:00 pm in ENGR 242.
4) SWE Call for Applications for FY’16 Officers
Officer application deadline has been extended. The only available positions for application are: President, Treasurer and Secretary. Please let us know if you have any questions.

5) Cisco Systems Inc. Tour and Internship Opportunity
Cisco Systems Inc. is opening their door to our SWE members! The tour is on Friday March 6, 2015 begins at 10 am sharp in the lobby building P and ends at 12pm. Please fill out the google form HERE if you are interested. Lunch will be provided as well as an internship session with the hiring manager in interning with them in the summer. Attached you will find the job description for this position.

6) Information Session at Varian Medical Systems
Varian Medical Systems is hosting a site/factory tour and informational session to educate students on what they do at Varian as well as career and internship opportunities they have available.
The event will be held on Friday, March 20th at our headquarters in Palo Alto. The times are still being worked out but the agenda will include a factory tour, time to see various engineering disciplines in action, lunch or a snack (based on the time), and time to interact with engineers in roles that may be of interest. 8) Power of WiE (Women in Engineering) Conference – Sign up
The Charles W. Davidson College of Engineering will be holding its inaugural Power of WiE (Women in Engineering) Conference here at SJSU and we hope you will join us! This will be an opportunity to raise awareness, gain valuable skills/industry insight, and connect to build community among each other, the college and industry supporters.
Space is limited, but we wanted to give you, our current students, the opportunity to “pre-register” before regular registration open to prospective students (local community colleges and admitted Fall 2015 students).
What: Inaugural Power of WiE Conference
When: Saturday, March 21, 2015
Time: Breakfast to Dinner
7:30 AM – Registration & Continental Breakfast
8:30 AM – Opening Ceremony
9:30 AM – Concurrent Sessions 1 & 2
12:00 PM – Lunch (Round Table Discussions)
1:45 PM – Concurrent Sessions 3 & 4
4:15 PM – Engineering Panels
5:45 PM – Dinner (Keynote Address)
Registration Fee: $15.00 (SJSU undergraduate students only)
Concurrent sessions will be a mixture of self-awareness & development topics (Leadership, Communication, Negotiation, etc.) and Trends in Tech Talks led by industry representatives. Other conference features include, speakers, round table discussions and panels.
To reserve your seat, please completed the WiE Reservation Form. Once your request has been approved we will contact you with next steps to make your reservation official.
Good luck with your Spring 2015 semester and hope to see you all on the 21st. Our goal is to make this an annual occurrence, however it will depend largely on the participation we have with this first one.
